Counseling Modalities

Traditional Talk Therapy

A variety of methods are used which often feels smooth enough to seem just like talking.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is an evidenced-based method for reducing depression and anxiety, focuses on our negative and distorted thought processes that are often so ingrained in our thoughts and beliefs that they go unrecognized. CBT helps to identify and reframe the way we think, which ultimately changes maladaptive feelings and behaviors.

EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This type of therapy has been widely recognized and heavily researched as an effective approach to resolving the effects of traumatic and highly distressing events in our past. It is also effective with severe anxiety and panic, refractory depression, and phobias. It is very different from talk therapy and uses bilateral stimulation to resolve unprocessed memories in the brain.

Walk & Talk Therapy

Want to kill two birds with one stone? I offer early morning “walk and talk” sessions. Behavioral activation and bilateral stimulation from walking is known to create greater neuroplasticity, which allows the brain’s neural networks to rewire and reorganize. Neuroplasticity is an essential function to changing maladaptive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

New Client Forms

During our first session, I like to spend our time together getting to know you and the issues that are bringing you in. Once an initial appointment is made, you will receive an invitation to the online client portal, where you can complete the necessary consent forms and questionnaire. Completing these prior to our meeting helps me to just focus on you.
